Tremor Records came into this world innocently in 1977 as a reaction to the blasé and insipid music that passed for rock & roll in those days.  Detroit was not going to be denied our place in the punk movement that had been sparked by the homegrown MC5 and Stooges.  The first inkling of Tremor’s existence was the single “Gutless Radio/My Doll” by the band Cinecyde.  Tremor is the lifeline that brought Cinecyde to vinyl, but it also became the primary path for documenting the early Detroit punk scene.  Tremor Records is still going strong but the early Detroit punk scene has been mostly overlooked so it’s time to discover why the most exciting and interesting music was actually happening right here in the Motor City.

This website documents those early days of punk rock in Michigan when bands like the Reruns and Coldcock could be found at Lili's or Bookies. It pays homage to those early pioneers who were willing to go and create something new and different that would define ourselves for the rest of our lives. It's been almost 50 years since many of these bands have played, but I hope that we can revisit and celebrate Tremor Records and the Detroit punk rock scene that it spawned.
